Nigeria’s Youths Must Prioritize Peace Over Political Rancor – Ohanaeze

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has taken a firm stance against inflammatory political rhetoric, condemning recent statements made by former Transportation Minister Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi regarding the 2027 electoral landscape. The organization voiced strong support for current Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, who publicly rebuked Amaechi’s comments.

The youth organization’s statement addressed Amaechi’s remarks at a national democracy conference, characterizing them as potentially inflammatory and counterproductive to national stability. Their response drew attention to Amaechi’s political history, including his governorship of Rivers State and subsequent roles in national politics, suggesting his current position may stem from personal political setbacks rather than genuine democratic concerns.

Through their National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the Council expressed unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration while calling for stringent measures against political figures who might threaten national harmony through provocative statements. The organization’s position emphasized the importance of maintaining political stability and urged Nigerian youth to remain focused on national development rather than partisan provocations.
