The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has issued a statement commending the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) for its recent milestone in increasing Nigeria’s crude oil and gas production. This achievement, which has seen crude oil production reach 1.8 million barrels per day and gas production hit 7.4 standard cubic feet per day, was completed under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The NDYC recognized the pivotal role of the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mele Kyari, whose leadership has been instrumental in driving NNPC Ltd toward this production recovery. They also highlighted the strategic work of the Production War Room Team, formed on June 25, 2024, which has been a key driver in stabilizing and boosting production. Additionally, the council acknowledged the collaboration with Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners, as well as support from the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies, in protecting national energy assets.
With NNPC Ltd aiming to reach two million barrels per day by year’s end, the NDYC pledged continued support for efforts that enhance the energy sector’s impact on the national economy. The organization praised this achievement as a reflection of the dedication of NNPC Ltd’s leadership and its commitment to realizing Nigeria’s full energy potential.
The NDYC also welcomed recent executive appointments at NNPC Ltd, including Mr. Adedapo Segun as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi as Executive Vice President for Downstream, and Mr. Udobong Ntia as Executive Vice President for Upstream. These leaders, the NDYC believes, will bring essential expertise to support NNPC Ltd’s vision of sustainable energy and economic growth for Nigeria.
Furthermore, the NDYC acknowledged the strategic leadership of NNPC Ltd’s Board Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, particularly his commitment to supporting the company’s growth through careful financial planning and resource management.
The NDYC affirmed its commitment to backing NNPC Ltd’s ongoing journey toward increased production and sustainable energy development, expressing optimism that these successes mark the beginning of a new chapter in Nigeria’s energy sector and economic progress.
